KTM has launched its much-awaited Supersport motorcycle, the RC 125 in India. Priced at Rs.1.47 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the bike will toughly compete with the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3. Bookings for the bike have started already and the deliveries will commence from this month end.
At the launching event, Mr Sumeet Narang, Vice President (Probiking) of Bajaj Auto Ltd. said, “KTM motorcycles are built for a purpose of winning performance and handling. It is no different with the RC 125 which will provide a true KTM experience to the motorcycle enthusiast seeking to enter our supersport world. It carries Moto GP genes from its sibling, the much-celebrated RC16.”
KTM RC 125 is a fully-faired motorcycle which borrows its styling and design cues from its naked sibling, the 125 Duke. It gets twin projector headlamps and LED DRLs similar to the bigger RC models. The bike sports two unique colour schemes of orange with black and orange with white combos. Unlike the international model, the India-spec RC 125 features an underbelly exhaust instead of a side-mounted unit, mandatory saree guard, a front license plate and a rear tyre hugger.
Coming to the engine details, the RC 125 features the same single-cylinder, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor of the 125 Duke with a displacement of 124.7cc. The engine delivers peak power and torque outputs of 14.5PS @ 9250rpm and 12Nm @ 8000rpm respectively and comes paired with a 6-speed Constant Mesh gearbox. The bike gets disc brakes at both ends and a standard single-channel ABS, rear-lift mitigation (RLM). Suspension duties are handled by USD forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear.
