Subrahmanya: As part of Champa Shashti, Panchami Rathotsava was conducted at Kukke Shri Subrahmanya on Wednesday night and the Brahmarathotsava was conducted on Thursday. The Brahmaratha has a history of 400 years associated with it and devotes earnestly viewed the Lord Subrahmanya being taken in the chariot.
Kuke Subrahmanya and Umamaheshwara’s Palaki celebrations were conducted at the premises of the temple. 98 devotees have performed the Maharathotsava service this time. After the Rathotsava, the priests flinged the flowers, fruits and other items at the devotees, while devotees conducted prayers by offering cardamom and other items to the chariot.
On Thursday afternoon, around 362 devotees performed ‘Ede Snana’ for their ‘Harake’. Kollegal Subba Shetty Smaranartha’s brother Radhakrishna spent Rs 1 lakh and provided sweets to the gathered.
New chariot from next year
As the 400 years old statue has become dysfunctional, there are thought on the creation of a new chariot and will be used during the next year’s fair. The dysfunctional 400 years old chariot will be remembered in history.
Today Nauka Vihara
On Friday, Lord Subrahmanya’s Avabhratha Utsava and Nauka Vihara will be conducted at Kumaradhara River.
