Kukke temple revenue declines by Rs 3.83 crore

Mangaluru: The decrease in footfall to the famous Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, owing to closure of ghat roads during monsoon last year has led to over Rs 3.8 crore decline in the temple revenue.
In 2018-19 the temple income stood at Rs 92.09 crore as compared to Rs 95.92 crore in the year 2017-18. The temple earns most of its revenue from various ‘Sevas’, hundi collections and devotees’ offerings.
The temple’s Executive Officer Ravindra pointed out that there was a reduced footfall at the temple owing to connectivity issues such as closure of Shiradi Ghat stretch for concreting works and later owing to landslides. Even Sampaje Ghat and train connectivity were affected due to natural calamity last year.
He also informed that the temple did not earn interest on the money earmarked for road development works. A sum of Rs 68 crore has been deposited with PWD for the development of the road, he said.
