Kumara Parvata trek temporarily banned
PTI, Jan 30, 2024, 9:00 AM IST
The Kumara Parvata trek will be banned from February 1st due to the prevailing stormy weather and water scarcity in the mountainous region.
The Forest Department officials have announced the ban, effective until October or until further notice.
This year’s Kumara Parvata trek has concluded, and with the mountain pasture now dry, precautionary measures are necessary to prevent potential fires in the intense sunlight.
The ban aims to address the increased number of trekkers facing challenges, including the scarcity of water sources, making it difficult to provide drinking water and maintain proper water systems for toilets on the hills where trekkers stay.
