Kundapura: More than 15 passengers on a bus had a miraculous escape after one of its tyres suddenly burst near Canara Bank on National Highway 66 at Thekkatte here on Sunday, August 28.
The accident occurred at around 5.30 PM. At the time, the private bus was moving towards Kundapura from Karkala.
The timely actions of the bus driver reportedly averted a major tragedy. As the tyre exploded, the bus veered off course and was about to hit the road divider. The man behind the wheel took corrective steps immediately and brought the bus to a stop, sources said.
Fortunately, none were hurt in the incident. Alternative arrangements were made for passengers to reach their destinations.
As the bus was stopped in the middle of the road, there was congestion on the highway for some time.
