Police have booked a case against a man and his wife in connection with the suicidal death of a 25-year-old woman in Kundapur.
On Wednesday morning, the woman Shilpa, a resident of Uppinakudru died at the hospital where she was admitted after she consumed poison on Monday night. Following her demise, her brother lodged a police complaint against Azeez, a resident of Koteshwara and his wife Salma.
As per the complaint, Shilpa and Azeez were acquainted with each other prior to the latter’s marriage. Even after his marriage, he maintained contact with Shilpa and promised to marry her. He also had taken several photos of her. Meanwhile, Azeez’s wife objected to their relationship.
Reportedly, Azeez told Shilpa to end her life recently.
Upon hearing the news of her demise Hindu activists demanded police take action against the accused. Few have expressed suspicion that this is a case of love jihad.
