Kundapur: The phenomenon of bioluminescence was observed at Kody Beach on the night of Thursday, March 24 night.

The beach saw a large number of people gathering to see the ‘blue waves.’ Most of them stayed till late in the night.

In 2020, after word spread about bioluminescence or sparkle in the beaches along the coast of Karnataka from Malpe to Karwar, people thronged beaches to watch the phenomenon.

Bioluminescence is light emitted by living organisms or algae, through chemical reactions in their bodies. It could also be the ghostly glow of bacteria on decaying organic matter or in the sediment/sand.
