In a rather shocking incident, a video of a motorist showing that electricity is passing through the side walls of the flyover near Kundapura’s Shastri circle has gone viral on social media.

Reportedly, the video was shot on Tuesday after the person had stopped his vehicle here for the rains to subside. When he leaned against the flyover wall he suffered a minor shock and thus used a tester to check the same. It was found that electricity is passing through the side walls of the flyover.

A Twitter user flagged the issue by tagging Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Shobha Karandlaje, NHAI and MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Sharing the viral video on Twitter, Dr Durgaprasad Hegde wrote, “This is shocking!!! Electricity in the side walls of flyover in #Kundapura of NH66 connecting Panvel to Kanyakumari. This is serious and life threatening. Please look into the matter.”

As soon as the matter was brought to the notice of officials Kundapura division Mescom officials disconnected the electric supply here as a precautionary measure and issued a notice to Navayuga to rectify the issue.

Upon checking, it was found that there an issue with the wiring and the same was rectified by the officials.

The work on the flyover had been executed by Navayuga Construction. However, at the time of opening the flyover for vehicular traffic, electric connections were not provided for the streetlights. The pending works were completed recently.
