Kundapura: Maravanthe residents build retention wall to prevent further sea erosion

Kundapura: About 200 residents in and around Maravanthe in the taluk here came together and built a retention wall on the beach to prevent further sea erosion and expansion due to Cyclone Tauktae.
The cyclone has caused the sea to expand over approximately 200 metres of land on the shore.
Huge waves were crashing on the land even after the cyclone had passed.
So the local fishing community decided to build a retention wall from sandbags and accordingly about 200 members of the local fishing association along with an earth-moving machine built the 250-metre long wall in three hours.
