Kundapura: The suspicious activity of a group of strangers a few days ago created panic in Manur village. The group arrived at the house of a local businessman, pretending to be officials. The incident led to a police complaint being filed at the Kota police station on Friday.
Kavitha (34), in her police complaint, said that she heard a knock on her door on July 25, at around 8:30 AM. She ignored it. When she checked at 9:00 AM, no one was there.
Meanwhile, a representative from Sign In Security Company in Kundapur, who were monitoring the house’s CCTV, called Kavitha to inform her that 6-8 people had arrived in a Swift and an Innova car. They tried to force open the gate and break into the house. They damaged the gate but left when they could not get inside.
Details of the Incident
The group was seen on CCTV: eight people in one car dressed in safari suits and four others in another car, with one person in a police uniform. The CCTV footage showed them trying to open the gate and later attempting to break into the house. They left after the door remained shut.
Security Agency’s Role
The staff from Sign In Security monitoring the live CCTV feed, saw the strangers arriving. The company tried contacting the family but they did not answer. The owner of the security firm Krishna, later called, and the family then knew what had happened. They suspected the group might be from IT or ED.
However, the strangers avoided the toll road and took a different route to escape, driving fast and trying to hide their car’s number plates.
A Close Call
Thanks to the live CCTV monitoring by Sign In Security, a potential disaster was avoided. The company has previously helped prevent over 27 criminal cases, including stopping a cow theft and a cooperative society theft.
Police Investigation
Police are investigating the incident. They are trying to figure out who the strangers are and their motives. If they were from a government department, they would have informed the police and followed legal procedures. The investigation is ongoing, and questions remain about the identity and intentions of the intruders.
