Kunigal: DK residents returning from Kambala event meet accident; 2 killed, 3 injured in car-lorry crash

Kunigal: Two persons from Dakshia Kannada were killed and 3 others were seriously injured in a car-lorry collision on the State Highway 33A near Chigani Palya village of Kottagere Hobali here in the early hours of Sunday, November 26.
The deceased have been identified as Kishan Shetty (20) from Bajpe and Philip Neri Lobo (32) from Bhattar Thota village of Dakshina Kannada district. Nitish Bhadari, Preeti Lobo, and Harish, who were travelling with them were seriously injured and are receiving treatment at Adichunchanagiri Hospital.
The accident occurred when they were returning to Mangaluru after watching the Kambla in Bengaluru on Saturday. The lorry was on its way to Tumakuru from Kunigal when the accident took place.
Reportedly, Kishan Shetty and his friends were supposed to take the route to Mangaluru via Nelamangala and Kunigal. However, they lost their way and had taken the Tumkur route. The mishap took place when they were on trying to reach Kunigal via Hebbur route.
Kunigal police registered a case and are investigating.
