Kuriya Double murder case: One held

Puttur: The city police arrested a person in connection with the regard to the brutal double murder that took place on Tuesday, November 18 at Hosamaru near Ajalady, Kuriyada village in Puttur taluk on Tuesday.
The arrested is identified as Kareem Khan (29), a resident of Khattataru.
It is gathered that Kareem had entered the house to rob money but while the occupants of the house caught him red-handed he hacked them to death.
A 16-year-old girl and her grandfather were found brutally murdered in their house at Hosamaru near Ajalady, Kuriyada village in Puttur taluk on Tuesday. The girl’s grandmother was shifted to a private hospital in Puttur and is in ICU, police sources told DH.
The victims were found in a pool of blood in the verandah. They were identified as Koggu Saheb (65) and Shamiya Banu (16), a student of Class 9 in MPM School in Mangalpadpu. The murder came to light when Saheb’s son Razak, who resides in Puttur, visited the house in the morning.
On finding the bodies, Razak raised an alarm and sought the help of the neighbours to shift his mother Khathijabi (55), to a private hospital in Puttur.
Koggu Saheb is survived by his three sons and two daughters. Shamiya, the daughter of Shakila Banu was staying with her grandparents since a year.
The police suspect that the murders were committed on Sunday and the murderers had washed their hands in the front of the Badriya Masjid.
