Madikeri: Two people including a teenager drowned in Kaveri river near RMC in Kushalnagar on Saturday. The deceased are identified as Naseer Khan (44), a resident of Badrunnis layout in Kushalnagar and his relative Syed Mon (14), son of Syed Akmal.

Even in the backdrop of three students drowning in the river at Kushalnagar on June 5th, another tragedy has taken place in the very same waters and created an environment of fear.

On Saturday morning, the children had accompanied their relative who had gone to wash clothes and were playing on the river bank, when Syed Mon suddenly lost balance and fell into the river. Within seconds, Naseer Khan also jumped into the river in a bid to save the kid. But unfortunately, Kaveri claimed both of their lives.

A case in this connection has been registered at Kushalnagar police station.
