Kushtagi: A pregnant woman in the taluk here succumbed to severe bleeding within hours of being vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.

The woman has been identified as Mangala Yamanurappa Meti (23) from Sebinakatte village.

5-month pregnant Meti was vaccinated at a camp in the Hulagera Primary Health Centre in the taluk on July 30. She was one of the 65 pregnant women vaccinated there.

Later that night she started bleeding profusely and was rushed to the taluk hospital in Kushtagi.

As the bleeding continued physicians at the hospital advised that she must be taken to Koppal district hospital for further treatment.

Meti died while en route to the hospital.

Taluka Medical Officer Dr Anand Goturu said Meti’s bleeding was not because of the vaccine and added that the post mortem will reveal the exact cause.
