Mangaluru: State governments of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and others have arranged special flights to repatriate their residents from Kuwait, however, Karnataka government is still to arrange for the repatriation of stranded Kannadigas from the Arab country.
A repatriation flight scheduled on June 16 too has been cancelled.
Dr Aarati Krishna, an NRI leader, speaking to Udayavani, stated that the Indian embassy there reported that the number of passengers from Kuwait are less. Thus, there was no air service. The State government should take a special interest in this issue and should arrange for flights from Kuwait via Bahrain.
Mohandas Kamath, a Kuwaiti resident, spoke to Udayavani and complained that the many Indian States have organised special flights except Karnataka, which has not organised even a single one. We have urged the central and State government to make arrangements for emergency passengers.
