Kyasanur Forest Disease: 19 people undergoing treatment

Udupi: Around 19 people Sagar taluk and its surrounding areas in Shimoga taluk are being treated for Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD) locally known as monkey fever ay Manipal hospital here.
Kundapur taluk is still witnessing monkey deaths and on Saturday Jan 12th, six more monkeys died in Marashi of Kandlur, Ganganadu of Byndoor, Konjadi and Tonnase of Belve gram panchayat limits and Salwadi of Madamakki Kalavara. Along with these 6 deaths, the total death toll of monkeys has risen to 15 so far.
One corpse of a monkey was recovered in Ujire of Belthangady taluk and thus, a total of 3 monkeys have died in this taluk.
The samples of the dead monkeys have been sent to the lab at Shimoga to ascertain the cause of death.
