Bengaluru: A labourer was killed following a ferocious attack by a neighbour’s pet dog at Attur Layout near Yelahanka here on Tuesday.

The deceased, Narasimha, 36, was a construction worker. The incident took place when he was resting on the stairs of the neighbouring house in the afternoon during his lunch break.

Police said that the dog’s owner resides next to the site where the deceased was working as a labourer. On Tuesday afternoon, the dog owner came down the stairs and his pitbull too followed him. Upon seeing Narasimha, the dog lunged at him and bit him in the neck.

Narasimha’s cries drew other workers, neighbours who rescued and rushed him to a hospital. However, he was declared as brought dead.

The police have booked the dog’s owner for death due to negligence. Police meanwhile said that it is not clear if Narasimha died from the dog attack or had a cardiac arrest.

Investigations are ongoing, an officer said.
