Mumbai: With several pregnant women and new mothers being infected during this devastating wave of Covid-19, many kind-hearted mothers are coming forward to help newborn babies whose mothers are either infected or died of Covid-19.
Similarly, in Mumbai, a lady named Minal Vernekar died of Covid-19 soon after giving birth. As the baby can’t accept infant formula, due to his allergy, lactating women in Mumbai reached out to offer their breast milk.
It is said that baby Ivaan was a premature baby and the women regularly supplied their breast milk to save him.
Lactating mothers came in their support through a Facebook group called Breastfeeding Support for Indian Women, founded by Adhunika Prakash. Also, the family was guided on how to use the received mother’s milk for the baby.
