Lady suspected of murdering a Mulki auto driver at Padubidri

Udupi: An auto-rickshaw driver operating at Mulki died under suspicious circumstances at Padubidri on Wednesday November 7th and allegations have surfaced blaming a lady of murdering the driver. The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Sanil Manampady (45).

Reportedly, Dinesh used to often call and harass Zeenath, a young lady from Padubidri on her cell phone. It is being said that with the aim to teach Dinesh a fitting lesson, she invited him to Padubidri and allegedly attacked him on his arrival.

The attack and demise

Zeenath, a resident of Deen Street, Padubidri, and her father reportedly assaulted Dinesh around 10.30 am on Wednesday near the bus shelter meant for buses bound for Udupi. Subsequently, Zeenath and Ibrahim together with Dinesh, travelled towards Padubidri police station in an auto rickshaw to file police complaint, when Dinesh complained of vertigo and chest pain. Hence, he was rushed to a private hospital, but the doctors declared him as brought dead.

Case registered

Padubidri police have registered a a case under Section 174 (Police to inquire and report on deaths under suspicious circumstances) of the Criminal Procedure Code based on the complaint from Suresh, brother of the deceased Dinesh. In his complaint, Suresh has asked the police to find out whether Sanil died following an assault by the woman or because of his health problem. Meanwhile, Zeenath too complained of dizziness and was admitted into the district hospital in the city on Wednesday afternoon.

Protest

Following the death of Dinesh the members of Mulky Manampady Auto Rickshaw Union gathered in front of the police station at Padubidri and urged the police to register murder case. They held protest in front of the station, alleging that Dinesh was murdered. Later, Padubidri station house officer Satish held discussions with the protesters in the presence of Prakash Shetty, Kaup block president of BJP. The police assured to hold impartial and proper probe into the incident.
