Lady thief who stole cash, gold arrested in Moodbidri

Moodbidri: A lady thief responsible for multiple incidents of purse and gold theft at various locations in Moodbidri has been successfully arrested by the police on Thursday evening. The arrested lady is identified as Ayesha alias Samreen (24), wife of Shafi, a resident of Bommanakatte in Badharavathi.
The accused was staying at a relatives place at Bannadadka in Moodbidri. On Thursday, when a woman customer had come to release gold from a finance institution, the accused snatched away the purse within the bag of the woman customer and made good her escape. The purse contained Rs 13,000 in cash. The robbed woman then filed a complaint with Moodbidri police.
Since the recent few days, there was a rise in the number of complaints regarding the theft of purse and gold in Moodbidri and police were keeping an eye out for the culprit. The CCTV camera installed at the finance institution at Alankar caught the act of robbery by the accused woman. Based on this lead, the Moodbidri police team made of Akhil Ahmed, Santosh, Yashodha, Mansoor and Rajesh carried out an operation and located the accused lady thief at a bus stop and arrested her.
It has come to light that a few days back, the accused had stolen Rs 21,000 from a customer near CH medicals. In connection to these two cases, the police have recovered Rs 34,000 from the accused and the accused lady thief has been presented in Moodbidri Court.
