Ladyhill: Youth drowns at Mangala Swimming Pool

Mangaluru: A youth drowned at Mangaluru City Corporation’s Mangala Swimming Pool near Ladyhill on at 5:15 pm Sunday evening March 24th. The deceased is identified as Yajnesh (19) from Jodukatte in Maroli. He had completed ITI and was currently at home.

The team had bought tickets

More number of people visit the swimming pool on Sundays. They have the facility of ticket and pass. Pass will be provided to those learning swimming and athletes. There are trainers for them. Yajnesh had arrived with 4-5 friends and bought the tickets for swimming.

Normally, those who are proficient in swimming purchase tickets. Therefore there are no special trainers for them. It was opinioned that Yajnesh must be knowing swimming and therefore he had bought the tickets.

A case regarding unnatural death has been registered with Barke police.

First Aid was provided

“The health of the youth who had come to swim at the swimming pool started to deteriorate sometime after he ventured into the water and hence was standing hanging on to the rod on the sides of the swimming pool. He was soon fished out of the water and was provided with first aid. Later, his family was informed of the situation. The friends of the sick youth took him to the hospital,” informed the swimming pool’s manager Ramesh.

This is the 2nd incident

This is the second incident of death by drowning at the swimming pool. Previously, a student identified as Sohan had drowned here in October 2013.
