Belthangady: Torrential rain since the last week has shaken the entire Karavali and malnad and in this backdrop, multiple landslides have occurred at various locations along the Charmadi Ghat because of which the road connection here has been effectively terminated.

Landslides have occurred at the hairpin bends along the ghat route and are posing a grave danger. Since a major collapse has occurred on one edge of the ghat road at Bankal limits, work has been taken up here to clear the road.

With the rise of the number of landslide along the ghat stretch, the entire road is on the verge of being destroyed completely. Because of this, the connection between Chikkamagaluru and Belthangady has been cutoff and it is feared that the connection via the ghat road may be closed for the next four months.
