Lasting Nobility: Pangala Gopalakrishna Nayak donates body to Manipal KMC Hospital

Katapadi: Pangala Gopalakrishna Nayak (92), son of freedom fighter Pangala Lakshminarayan Nayak, and a prominent figure in the Katapadi Nayak family, breathed his last at his residence on Saturday, January 20. He devotedly managed the renowned Nayak Ayurveda Ashram in Katapadi.
Nayak’s mortal remains were donated to Manipal KMC Hospital, fulfilling his wishes.
Remaining unmarried, Nayak led a simple life in adherence to Mahatma Gandhi’s principles, consistently donning khadi attire and following a traditional diet. Known for his deep concern for animals and birds, he actively contributed to environmental conservation, particularly safeguarding trees in the Katapadi region.
An ardent lover of Ayurveda and classical music, he shared his father’s legacy in the Indian freedom movement.
He is survived by his brother, Dr. Pangala Sitaram Nayak, two sisters, and numerous relatives.
Condolences were paid by Kapu MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, former MLA Lalaji R. Mendon, Katapadi SVS Vidyavardhak Sangh President M.D. Kini, K. Satyendra Pai, Manipal Ranga Pai, President of the Alumni Association Prem Kumar, and Katapadi Gram Panchayat President Prabha B. Shetty.
