Bengaluru: JDS party on Tuesday announced the name of Ammajamma, wife of late MLA Satyanarayana as its candidate for Sira assembly in the upcoming bypolls, scheduled to be held on November 3.

JDS supremo HD Devegowda made the official announcement at the party office here. The bypolls to this constituency was necessitated following the demise of Satyanarayana.

The Congress has already announced TB Jayachandra as its candidate from Sira constituency while the BJP is yet to finalise its candidate. However it is speculated that Rajesh Gowda who was inducted into the saffron party recently may get the party ticket.

In 2018 assembly elections JDS’s Satyanarayana registered victory over Congress’ candidate TB Jayachandra to enter the assembly for the first time.
