Mangaluru: Two police personnel of the Urwa Police Station were suspended on Friday in connection with the handling of allegations made by a law intern against lawyer K.S.N Rajesh.
Mangaluru Police Commission N Shashi Kumar issued suspension orders against PSI Srikala and head constable Pramod of the Urwa Police Station for dereliction of duty.
A law student accused K.S.N. Rajesh, a special public prosecutor of the Lokayukta Division, of sexual harassment.
A case has been registered at Mangaluru women’s police station alleging Special public prosecutor of Lokayutka Division K.S.N. Rajesh had attempted to rape the law intern at his Karangalpadi office.
According to the complaint, the student had joined Rajesh’s office at Karangalpadi for training on August 8. The advocate had coaxed the young girl to have sex with him on many occasions thereafter. On September 25, he called the intern into his chambers and tried to sexually exploit her, the FIR alleges.
Rajesh has been serving as a special government prosecutor in corruption cases registered in the Lokayukta for the past few years.
Two days ago, an audio clip of Rajesh and the student’s alleged phone call was circulated on Social media.
However, Rajesh has denied all allegations.
Another student had also lodged a complaint against Rajesh. The complainant said that she was taken to the Urwa police station by a lady on the pretext of protecting her, and forced to write a letter of apology in the presence of Rajesh.
N. Shashi Kumar had inspected Rajesh’s office on Tuesday in connection with the serious allegation levelled against the government prosecutor. He said that an officer of ACP rank has been assigned to look into the matter and the accused will be detained when necessary.
