Legislative Council By-election: Kishore Kumar, Raju Poojary File Nominations

Mangaluru: For the Legislative Council by-election from the Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities Constituency, four candidates, including BJP, Congress, and SDPI nominees, filed their nominations on the last day, Thursday.

BJP candidate Kishor Kumar Puttur, Congress candidate Raju Poojary, SDPI candidate Anwar Sadat, and independent candidate Mohammed Riyaz submitted their nomination papers to the District Electoral Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Mullai Muhilan.

Additionally, independent candidate Dinakar Ullal had already submitted his nomination earlier, making a total of five candidates in the fray. Both Kishore Kumar and Raju Poojary filed two sets of nomination papers each.

During the filing of Kishore Kumar’s nomination, prominent leaders including MP Brijesh Chowta, MLAs Bhagirathi Murulya, Pratap Simha Nayak, Yashpal Suvarna, Satish Kumpala, Kishore Kundapura, and Pramod Madhwaraj were present.

Raju Poojary was accompanied by senior Congress leaders Ramanath Rai, Jayaprakash Hegde, Manjunath Bhandari, and Ivan D’Souza.

Asset Details of BJP and Congress Candidates

Kishore Kumar Puttur (BJP):

Kishore Kumar Puttur has declared that he has movable assets worth Rs 33.61 lakh, while his wife holds assets worth Rs 46.85 lakh. This includes a Rs 17.87 lakh investment in Parashu Land Films. He owns immovable property, including ancestral land and a house in Puttur, and non-agricultural land in Paduperar, Mangaluru, valued at Rs 1.12 crore. His liabilities include a gold loan of Rs 6.06 lakh, a long-term agricultural loan of Rs 11.88 lakh, and a car loan of Rs 32.8 lakh taken by his wife.

Raju Poojary (Congress):

Raju Poojary has declared that he has fixed deposits worth Rs 2.48 lakh in various banks, an LIC policy worth Rs 6.24 lakh, shares valued at Rs 1.88 lakh, a Hyundai Creta car, and gold worth Rs 1.82 lakh. In total, his movable assets amount to Rs 40.32 lakh. His wife holds movable assets worth Rs 17.40 lakh, while his two children hold Rs 1.02 lakh and Rs 1.16 lakh respectively. He also owns agricultural land and residential buildings worth Rs 65.40 lakh. Poojary has loans totaling Rs 24.04 lakh from various banks.
