Kundapura: A leopard which fell into the well, passed away professedly due to the negligence of forest authorities, who arrived late, that too with no gear to protect the animal.

It has been alleged that the leopard which fell into the well was in search of prey and tripped in the well.

When a local heard noise of some cries, he informed that forest department. But the forest department delayed in arriving and with no gear to protect the animal. They reported the matter to their higher authorities. By the time the actual rescue operation began, it was too late as the leopard was fighting for its life for more than six hours and ultimately drowned in the presence of the forest officials.
