Leopard sightings in Venur cause alarm; Forest officials install traps

Venur: Leopard sightings in Chennaithodi, Ajjibettu, Eliyanadugodu, and Kukkipadi villages under the Venur forest range have caused concern among residents.
Following public appeals, a meeting between forest officials and locals was held on December 30, organized by the Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike, Vamadapadavu unit. It was decided to install traps to capture the leopard.
Currently, traps have been placed at Chennaithodiguttu, Gonjaguttu, and Kuthlodi in Eliyanadugodu. Daily monitoring is being conducted by forest officials and locals.
The operation is being led by Venur Range Forest Officer Subramanya Achari, with support from Deputy Range Officers Sunil Kumar and Hariprasad, Forest Guards Suresh, Sukesh, and Santosh. Local representatives, including Karavali Rakshana Vedike President Jayaprakash Shetty and residents Narayana Sevanta, Janardhan Poojary, and Pramod, were also present.
