Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil suddenly resigned from his IAS post on Friday. Mr Senthil spoke with ‘Udayavani’ regarding this decision.

What is the reason for your decision?

When there is conflict to the doctrine that I believe in and to my service, I must either leave the post or compromise my doctrine. Since I cannot compromise with the doctrine, I have left the post. My resignation is due to my personal reasons. I am surprised by some of the phenomenon that are occurring in the country. I cannot accept the present few developments for any reason.

To which issue are you specifically pointing at?

This cannot be said specifically. Such development is occurring in almost all the areas. I cannot imagine to what extent this will grow in the future. A separate whole day may be required to talk about all these issues.

Was there any pressure?

I am stating this clearly; I faced no pressure of any kind in the district. Nobody gave any pressure for any reason. I faced no pressure during any term of my public service. In case there was some small pressure, I knew how to handle it and move forward.

Is the resignation decision spontaneous?

This is not a sudden decision. I did not come to become the DC. I came after crossing various levels. But when small or serious facts occurring around me hinder my doctrine, I cannot oppose this by being within the government system. Hence, I had planned to walk out of the system.

Are you planning to enter politics?

Definitely not.

Your resignation comes right behind IPS officer Annamalai’s resignation; what does this signify?

One thing is clear; if we are taking such decisions, it means there is a problem somewhere in the system. Everybody must discuss on what it is. Let open discussion be held regarding this. I am ready to participate.

What have you decided for the future?

I have not planned for the future. I have not taken any decision regarding it. I will take the final decision after thinking about it. Need to involve with the people in general.

DK is my second home

Your decisions has made the people of the district sad?

Nothing like that. A part of me will remain here. DK will always be my second home. The cooperation provided by all the staffs at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and all the officials of the district is exemplary. I am in debt to the unbiased love and cooperation provided to me by the people of the district. I beg pardon from the people of the district for having submitted my resignation. It was my personal reason to resign, and I will not step back from the decision no matter who requests.

Till now I have worked with 25 DC’s. Senthil is the best DC I have seen till now. Along with the work, he used to enquire on my food as well. His resignation has saddened me – Babanna, DC’s car driver

I am shocked by DK Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil’s resignation. He was an efficient officer. I have attempted to change his mind – U T Khader, MLA

I have worked with him in Raichur. When he was the DC there, I was the additional DC. In DK too, I have been working with him since a year. According to me he is an efficient officer. He has much love and concern regarding the people – Dr| R Selvamani, DK ZP CEO

He has informed that he has given the resignation for personal reasons and requested not to pressurize him to take it back. He has worked well when the district face floods, rains and other chaos. He has quickly responded to our suggestions as people’s representatives – MLA D Vedavyas Kamath

The district required even more service from him. I had called Senthil. But could not reach him. I will meet him personally and request him to change his mind – Sanjeeva Matandoor, BJP DK district president

His resignation has brought sadness. When the district faced natural calamities, he worked honestly – Ivan D’Souza, MLC
