Belthangady: Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, in a statement has extended his support for the lamp lighting event on the night of April 5.

He stated that the country is fighting the scrouge of COVID-19 and all us countrymen must participate in this fight. As the lighting of the lamp is rightfully considered to bring good fortune it must be performed as a virtuous act in this fight.

He also quoted a Sarvagjya couplet: “Jaati Heenana Maneya Jyoti Ta Heenave” which translates as the light of a lamp with a lowly person’s or with the high born has no difference.
