Limited window: August 23 designated for ration card corrections

Mangaluru: The deadline for making changes to the ration card has once again been extended, with only one day, August 23, allocated for this purpose.
Specifically, the time frame to apply for ration card amendments is restricted to August 23, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Previously, the window for ration card amendments was open from 18th to 21st, between 12 noon and 4 pm. During the initial days, namely the August 18 and 19, there was a provision to expedite applications related to adding names for emergency treatment in Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards, along with processes like name inclusion, removal in BPL cards, and changes in the ration shop affiliation.
Unfortunately, widespread server issues have affected the ration card correction process throughout the entire state. District-level officials have communicated this matter to state authorities, leading to an extension being granted, providing an additional day for this purpose, which falls on Wednesday, August 23.
The suspension of ration card modifications persisted for around four and a half months due to the Assembly Election Code of Conduct enforced in April-May. Although a new government assumed power, the temporary halt in ration card updates continued due to the rollout of guarantee schemes.
