Bengaluru: A 42-year-old lineman, attached to Bescom was electrocuted to death while repairing a damaged wire in Thanisandra on Sunday morning.
Family members of the deceased, Murali have alleged negligence on part of Bescom and demanded arrest of the guilt engineer.
On Sunday, Murali had got a call from Bescom senior engineer Chandrasekhar who asked him to repair a line in Thanisandra. Though it was a holiday, Murali obliged to Chandrasekhar’s request and reached the spot to find Chandrasekhar and another lineman present at the spot.
Murali climbed the pole to repair the line after power supply was completely cut but power surged through the wire while he was repairing it and Murali got electrocuted. Chandrasekhar who was present at the spot is said to have fled soon after the incident.
Murali’s family alleged that Chandrasekhar intentionally restored power while Murali was repairing the line because of a rift between the two.
An FIR has been registered against Bescom senior engineer Chandrasekhar and assistant engineer Muniraju and investigations are underway.
