Bengaluru: The state government is likely to permit liquor shops to function if the lockdown is extended beyond April 14.
Liquor stores can operate between 10 am to 1 pm if lockdown is extended, stated sources.
There has been no official announcement in this regard so far.
The decision seems to have been influenced by instances of reported suicides by tipplers unable to cope with withdrawal symptoms.
Notably, CM BS Yediyurappa and other ministers had ruled out opening liquor stores before the end of the lockdown period.
However, considering the rising cases of COVID 19, state governments have urged center to extend the lockdown.
