Kalaburgi: Former president of Shahbad City Municipal Council and local Congress leader Girish Kambanur has been brutally murdered in the broad daylight, here on Monday.

Reportedly, Girish had been to the Shahbad Railway Station to book a train ticket for Bengaluru. At this point in time, miscreants who had come on a bike and auto have hacked Girish to death.

As per the sources, Girish breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the exact reason for brutal murder has not come to light. It is understood that his wife Anjali Kambanur is currently the president of the Shahbad City Municipal Council.

The investigation is on.

It can be recalled that, earlier in the year 2019, Girish was stabbed by the accused identified as Vijay Halli. Police had suspected it to be a case of rivalry.
