Mangaluru: Locals in Bolar opposed the cremation of a Covid 19 victim at the graveyard located near the mosque here on Sunday, June 28.
The 31-year-old, resident of Idya in Surathkal died due to Covid 19 at the district hospital earlier today.
His body was taken to the Idya mosque for the last rites but owing to the rainfall the graveyard area was inundated with water.
Thus authorities brought his body to the graveyard near the Bolar mosque.
Locals who came to know of this staged stiff opposition to cremation over here. Authorities attempts to convince them went vain.
The local leaders have been asked to intervene and pacify the locals.
