Belthangady: A driver of a jeep, who recklessly drove the vehicle into the flooded waters of river at Kukkavu near here in a bid to cross the river, was rescued by the locals in time. Apparently, soon after venturing into the misadventure, the jeep went out of control and got submerged in water.

The driver in question is a resident of Ujire and had crossed the river on the morning of Saturday, October 19, at the spot where the Kukkavu Koodabettu rivulet joins with Eluvare rivulet. However, when he was returning in the evening, the level of water had risen.

Nonetheless, the jeep driver was not deterred by the water level and instead chose to risk it and cross the flood river. However, the driver soon lost control of his vehicle and the jeep started to submerge. The locals, who saw this in time rushed in and rescued the driver.

Later, the jeep was also pulled out from the water with the help of a rope that was tied to another vehicle.
