New Delhi: Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned till 11 am on Tuesday following a ruckus in the parliament.
The Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the houses as the Opposition continued sloganeering of ‘We want justice’ as Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw issued a statement on the ‘Pegasus Project’.
Earlier in the morning, when the House assembled on day one of the Monsoon session, the proceedings were adjourned for an hour as a mark of respect to departed sitting MPs Raghunath Mohapatra and Rajeev Satav.
No sooner did the House met again at around 12.25 pm, opposition members started raising slogans as the chairman was making his opening remarks about the expectations from the current session amid the Covid pandemic.
Amidst sloganeering, the chairman asked the prime minister to introduce the newly-inducted ministers in the Council of Ministers. However, the protesting members kept raising slogans.
Expressing anguish over the conduct of the protesting opposition members, Modi questioned their mentality behind their behaviour of not allowing him to introduce women, Dalit and scheduled tribe MPs who have been made ministers.
Also, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said such a thing was happening for the first time in his 24 years of parliamentary career.
