Mangaluru: Lokayukta raid at the residence of Kinnigoli Town Panchayat Chief Officer, MR Swamy, has uncovered additional bribe money.
On September 19, Lokayukta officials raided Swamy’s office and apprehended him while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. On the same day, during a search of his residence, officials discovered an additional Rs 30,000 in an envelope bearing the name of an electrical contractor.
Further investigation revealed that the money was allegedly received as a bribe for passing bills related to three electrical projects. Based on a complaint from one of the contractors, a case was registered on October 4 at the Mangaluru Lokayukta Police Station under Crime No. 06/2024, under Section 7(A) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018).
