Bengaluru: The health condition of Lokayukta P. Vishwanatha Shetty, who was stabbed on his chest, abdomen, hand, thigh, and face on Wednesday, is now stable.

A group of doctors led by cardiothoracic surgeon Diwakar Bhat in Mallya Hospital, who is in charge of the treatment of Lokayukta, said he was recovering. Not long after he was hurried to the hospital, the Lokayukta underwent different surgeries for four-hours.

Dr. Bhat told the media on Thursday that the Lokayukta was improving and has regained consciousness. “He is sitting on chair and reading newspapers,” the doctor said.

The doctors said he was on liquid diet starting now. “Based on his condition tomorrow, we will decide on the diet,” the specialist said.

The Lokayukta has endured three wounds on his chest, two on the stomach area, one each on the hand and thigh, and two on the face. One of the more serious cut was in the abdomen area where there was excessive bleeding.
