Only preliminary investigation it was learnt that the house door was unlatched when the customer had reached the house.

Locals expressed suspicion that it was not a natural death and must have been a murder for gain since the gold ornaments which the deceased woman wore daily were missing and also cigarette ash was found within the house.

Working on this suspicion the mortal remains of the woman were sent to Manipal for an autopsy and the post mortem report suggest that the case is indeed that of ca murder. The spot was visited by the new Udupi SP Nisha James accompanied by Kundapur DySP B P Dinesh Kumar, circle inspector Manjappa and Byndoor circle inspector Parameshwar on Sunday evening.
