Lorry hits container at metro site: one killed

Bengaluru: A service engineer who was asleep in a container near Tin Factory on Old Madras Road was killed when a sand-laden lorry rammed into it.  The container fell into a pit that had been dug up for metro work on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Sonu Singh, aged 32. He hailed from Delhi and worked as a contract employee with a construction company associated with BMRCL.

The incident took place at midnight 1:00 am on Saturday; a truck was heading to the city from Hoskote. The driver, Ramanjaneya had fallen asleep and lost control of the vehicle. The truck hit the barricades and rammed to the container killing Sonu on spot.

The construction company has filed a police complaint against the driver for his negligence. The company also assured to compensate the family of the deceased. The driver is under medical treatment.

A case of accidental death due to rash and negligent driving has been registered by KR Puram Traffic police.
