Bengaluru: Various organisations including Lorry Owners’ Association, Commercial Service Vehicle Owners’ Association and others have called for indefinite nation wide strike starting from April 1 opposing increase in third party insurance premiums rates, banning the vehicles used for more than 15 years and many other policies of state and union governments.

An increase in the rate of insurance premium, rise in toll fee at toll gates are the major reasons persuaded the lorry owners to go on strike. More than 20 lakh good transport lorries will stop their service from April 1. However , the lorries which supply essential goods and commodities will ply on roads. Meanwhile, in south India, lorry, taxi, maxi cab, tourist vehicle owners have already declared that they would protest against these issues prior to April 1. Accordingly, they  are expected to stop their service from March 30 indefinitely.
