Bengaluru: A 46-year-old woman has been arrested along with her 30-year-old paramour for killing her husband here, police said.

The accused have been identified as Devi Tomang (46) a native of West Bengal and her lover Jainul Ali Babu (30) a native of Assam. They are accused of killing Devi’s 52-year-old husband Rakesh Tomang.

Police said, Rakesh, who worked as a security guard, had married Devi about 10 years ago and the couple was residing in Kalathoor.

Devi had an extramarital affair with Babu, whom she met at her husband’s workplace. Rakesh who came to know of her promiscuity objected to the relation. This became the motive for the crime, police said.

Devi conspired with Babu to kill her husband. On November 5, Devi made her husband drink alcohol to his heart’s content. Later, while he was asleep, Babu strangled his neck, and Devi assisted by restraining her husband’s limbs.

To avoid suspicion, Devi claimed her husband had died after consuming alcohol. A relative of the deceased who grew suspicious reported the matter to the police.

Later, the autopsy report confirmed that Rakesh did not die of natural causes, but was strangulated.

Devi had also gotten Babu a SIM card in her name to cover up the traces.  However, Rs 50,000 was transferred via a digital app to Babu’s account, police said.
