LPG tanker turns turtle in Uppinangady; residents evacuated

Uppinangady: A tanker carrying LPG met with an accident and turned turtle leading to gas leakage. The incident occurred near Bedrodi hanging bridge along Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway in Uppinangady.

As a precautionary measure, a few residents of Bedrodi near Uppinangady were evacuated from their homes by Fire brigade officials

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) container was carrying LPG, and was headed from Mangaluru to Bengaluru when incident occurred, around 1.30 am on Sunday morning.

Following the accident, the LPG gas within the container began to leak and an operation was launched to contain the situation. Accordingly, as a preventive measure, the entire road from Periyashanti towards old gate road was blocked for vehicles throughout the operation.
