LS Polls: 9,90,773 voters to cast their votes this election in Udupi district: DC

Udupi: A total of 9,90,773 voters will be casting their votes at the upcoming Lok Sabha (LS) elections, announced Deputy Commissioner of the district, Priyanka Mary Francis who also released the final list of voters of the district on Wednesday, January 16, at DC conference hall here. Of the total voters in the district, 4,77,243 are male and 5,13,523 are females.

the voters list has been finalized by considering January 1, 2019, as the qualifying date. If anyone wants to add names to the voters’ list, they can apply anytime,” informed the DC.

The Dc later spoke with the reporters and said, “The district Election Commission (EC) received 10,273 applications for various reasons. 7,099 applications for deletion of names, 3,374 for the amendments and 755 under form 8A. Four applications from NRIs received under Form 6A. Around 4,793 young voters have registered their names up to December 2018.”

‘Voter’s Day’ on Jan 25th

“With the aim to attract young voters into the political process in accordance o the direction of Election Commission of India and Chief Election officers Bengaluru, Udupi district administration has decided to hold district level ‘Voters’ day’ on Friday, January 25 at Sri Lakshminarayan auditorium (Town hall). Voters’ day will be held at all taluk level and polling areas. EPIc Card will also be given on the same day,” informed the DC.

District level Voter help line center launched

The DC also launched the district level Voter help line center at the DC office for the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2019. The toll free number is 1950. Any information regarding the voting process can be availed through this number by the voters. The DC urged the public to make use of the facility which had started functioning from January 16.
