Kundapur: Lok Sabha elections will be held in the state on April 18th and April 23rd and as degree exams have also been fixed during the same time period, the students are now in a confusion.
While there is possibility for the degree exams to be conducted from the second week of April at all colleges coming under Mangalore University, the autonomous colleges have already brought out their exam timetables which are scheduled to begin from Apr 10th to Apr 30th.
The elections In the state are being carried out in two phases. The first phase of election on Apr 18th will be conducted at 14 constituencies including Mangaluru and Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency. The second phase of election is on Apr 23rd and will be conducted in 14 constituencies including Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada constituencies.
What is the problem?
Even though the timetable of the exams could be re-scheduled, the elections are being conducted in two phases, and therein lies the rub. There are students from other districts who are studying at colleges in Karavali and will have to return back to their respective districts to cast their votes on Apr 23rd. Already, exams have been fixed on Apr 23rd at some colleges. The students are demanding that this be re-scheduled.
