Bengaluru: Union minister DV Sadananda Gowda may see a heated battle in the coming Lok Sabha elections as JDS supremo and former HD Deve Gowda is likely to contest from Bengaluru North.
Making way grandson Prajwal Revanna, HD Deve Gowda had shifted his base from his home turf Hassan and is likely to contest from Bengaluru North which is currently represented by Union minister DV Sadananda.
“I am also bored of fighting weak candidates; it will be fun to take on a big personality like Deve Gowda,” said DV Sadananda when questioned if he was ready to face JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda.
Speaking on Deve Gowda’s candidature from Bengaluru North, JDS MLA Sharavana TA said, “A win for Deve Gowda will improve JD(S) prospects in next year’s civic body polls.”
Recently, the Congress leadership has made it clear that it would accommodate its alliance partner in Karnataka, Janata Dal(S) from Bangalore North Lok Sabha, only if its HD Deve Gowda wishes to contest from there. On the other hand, Deve Gowda has decided not to contest the ensuing Lok Sahba polls, if the Congress doesn’t agree to give Mysuru-Kodagu to the JD(S).
After leaving Hassan, his home turf, Deve Gowda was on a lookout for a safe Lok Sabha seat and was hoping to contest from Bengaluru North or Mysuru Lok Sabha.
