Bengaluru: Member of Parliament Sumalatha Ambareesh once again expressed intention to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections under the BJP banner.
Despite the BJP’s alliance with the JDS party, Sumalatha said she remains optimistic about the BJP’s prospects in Mandya. She made this announcement following a meeting with various political leaders at her residence in JP Nagar, Bengaluru, on Sunday.
Reflecting on her current status as an independent candidate who won in Mandya with BJP’s external support, Sumalatha expressed confidence in securing the BJP ticket for the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.
She highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s vision for the nation’s future and his endorsement of her candidacy under the BJP.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister and JDS chief H.D. Kumaraswamy refused to comment on Sumalatha’s announcement. Instead, he clarified that the meeting called for Mandya was a routine one to strengthen party’s grassroots presence and dismissed the focus on Sumalatha’s candidacy.
