Bengaluru:  The All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed former legislator and Congress leader Madhu Bangarappa as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) OBC Cell working president.

In its orders passed on Wednesday, September 14, the AICC directed Madhu Bangarappa to take charge with immediate effect and work towards strengthening the OBC cell.

Earlier, reports suggested that Madhu Bangarappa was unhappy with the Congress party for not giving him any major responsibilities. After being in Janata Dal (Secular) party and contesting the 2019 general elections from the party, he could not manage to secure significant votes.

Distressed over this, he had maintained a distance from JD(S) and its high command.

Later, KPCC president DK Shivakumar invited him to Congress.

The reports also suggest that the DKShi helped Madhu Bangarappa in his appointment to working president of KPCC OBC cell, by having a word with the party high command.
