Madhukar Shetty IPS laid to rest

Kundapur: Late IPS officer Madhukar Shetty’s final rites were held with full state honour here on Sunday, December 30. A large number of locals paid their respects to the late officer along with the DGP, IGP, SPs and senior police officers.
Cabinet Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader paid last respect to the late officer on behalf of the state government. DC Priyanka Mary Francis also paid homage.
The funeral pyre was lit after the state honour, by the late officer’s daughter Samya, brother’s son Sarang, brothers Muralidhar and Sudhakar at 12.15 in the noon at Yadadi next to tombs of his parents.
IPS officer Madhukar Shetty died of H1N1 in Hyderabad on Friday, December 28. He was an upright officer and was known for his efficiency and honesty. He has served as SP in Chikmagalur and Chamarajanagara and as DCP traffic in Bengaluru. During his time as a SP in Lokayukta, he was famous as a strict and disciplined officer and conducted investigation on illegal mining and denotification cases.
Madhukar Shetty was born on Dec 17 1971 and completed M A in Sociology from JNU Delhi. He was an IPS officer of the 1999 batch. He had secured PhD from USA in 2011, where he had gone on leave for higher education. On his return after the completion of his PhD, he was promoted as DIG and served in the recruitment for police for a while.
